Fine Lines and Wrinkles: How to Treat Them

You may have recently noticed the emergence of fine lines and wrinkles on your skin, or perhaps you have been observing these changes in the mirror for several years now.

These subtle yet significant changes are among the most visible indicators of the aging process. While they can begin to appear as early as our 30s, they often become much more pronounced and noticeable as we transition into our 40s and beyond.

Common Areas Affected

Wrinkles and fine lines can develop on multiple areas of the face, with the most common including:

Forehead lines

Repetitive brow movements—like raising your eyebrows or frowning—can lead to horizontal forehead lines over time. These lines deepen as collagen levels drop, making the skin appear more aged or tired.

eyes

Crow’s feet around the eyes

The delicate skin at the outer corners of the eyes is prone to early fine lines from smiling, squinting, and sun exposure. Crow’s feet often signal the first visible signs of aging.

Frown lines between the brows

Also called "11s," these vertical lines between the eyebrows develop from repeated muscle movement and stress. Over time, they can remain visible even when your face is at rest.

Smile lines (nasolabial folds)

These folds run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. As skin loses volume and elasticity, smile lines become more pronounced, especially with repeated expression.

Marionette lines around the mouth

Running from the mouth to the chin, marionette lines form as gravity and volume loss cause the lower face to sag. These lines can make you appear sad or tired

Lines on the neck and décolletage

The skin on the neck and chest is thin and often exposed to the sun, making it prone to creases, pigmentation, and loss of firmness. These are telltale signs of aging and often overlooked in skincare.
