Post-treatment Instructions for Botox

What to Expect After Botox Treatment

Injections can cause small amounts of swelling, a temporary bump, redness, bruising, a mild to moderate headache, a sensation such as tingling and mild itching after treatments. If you experience a mild headache you may take Tylenol. You can feel free to go about most of your usual activities immediately following botox treatment. Here is some advice to help protect your results and to minimize any side effects after your botox treatment:

In the First 1 Hour Post-Treatment:

Try to exercise your treated muscles for the first hour after treatment (e.g. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting). This helps to work the treatment into your muscles. Although doing this may help your procedure outcome, it will not impact your treatment negatively if you forget to do this.

For the First 2 Hours:

Avoid lying down.

For the First 4 Hours:

Avoid heat, strenuous exercise, sauna, hot tub or tanning. Avoid applying make-up.

For 24 Hours:

Avoid having a facial or to massage the treated area or wearing a tight cap/garment. Routine adjustments can be carried out from two weeks post procedure. Dr Kate Healy offers a consultation at two weeks post injection to assess how your individual muscles respond to botox.
